Job Summary
Technologist I in Immunohematology Reference Lab performing basic and advanced donor and patient tests and interpreting results to determine donor-recipient compatibility. Resolve compatibility problems; provide intermediate reference and consultation services to hospitals and transfusion services. Conduct automated and manual test procedures on blood samples; manage receipt, coordination, shipment, and transport of patient and donor blood samples; document supply and equipment problems; manage reagent inventory; recognize/resolving testing irregularities; consult with staff at other medical facilities to resolve complex serologic problems; may perform manufacturing duties for special blood products; standard schedule Friday-Sunday 7pm-7am (Baylor Shift with rotating weekends). Requirements include MT (ASCP) certification (or MLT with substitution), Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or Chemistry, minimum 1 year related experience (or equivalent), and good communication skills. Required Qualifications
- MT (ASCP) certification required OR MLT (ASCP) certification with 4 years of general laboratory experience can be substituted
- Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or Chemistry
