Job Summary
Technician-Unit Support provides direct patient care and unit clerical duties in the Adult Medical Critical Care Unit (MICU), assisting the Clinical Nurse and patient care team. Responsibilities include patient care under supervision, assisting with information and directions, scheduling tests and procedures, maintaining patient records, signing patients in and out, ordering/receiving/delivering equipment and supplies, and potential continuous observation including suicide prevention. Health-safety credentials and unit-specific training (PCA program) may be required, along with Basic Life Support. Night shift, Indianapolis location, full-time role.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- CPR may be required to complete Unit Secretary training program.
- Requires previous comparable acute patient care experience or successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
- Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or attainment at the completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
- Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
- Requires basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Requires knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
- Requires knowledge of principles of infection control.
- Requires basic computer skills.
