Technician - Shop Assistant

Job Summary
Assist shop technicians with basic troubleshooting, diagnosing equipment malfunctions, and rebuilding repairs while maintaining company tools and adhering to safety procedures. Complete all assigned repair documentation accurately and timely under the direction of managers and lead mechanics. Develop a strong understanding of equipment operations, functions, specifications, and controls. Maintain quality housekeeping in the work area and uphold professional standards with internal and external customers. Requires high school diploma, one year of experience in construction, automotive, or agriculture, and moderate computer skills. Works under close supervision with readily available guidance for unfamiliar situations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year or more of experience with assisting or helping repair equipment in the construction, automotive, or agriculture field
Desired Qualifications
- Certificate acquired through a vocational or technical school
- 1 year or more of work-related experience with heavy equipment
- Good communication skills, including verbal, written, non-verbal, and listening skills
- Good customer service skills with basic prospecting skills and the ability to meet and/or exceed customer expectations
- The ability to uphold professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance and friendly, courteous treatment of peers, subordinates and customers
- Knowledgeable/good mechanical aptitude
- Moderate computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office
- Moderate experience using data base systems
- Basic knowledge of safety rules, laws and regulations concerning engine service, hydraulics, electrical, technical functions of various components and tooling procedures and capabilities
- Self-motivated
