Job Summary
Operate air, power, and hand tools such as bandsaws and belt sanders to prepare cross-section samples of joining technologies. Use microscopes and Keyence VHX software to image welds and measure cross sections against Rivian Specifications. Conduct visual and destructive inspections of components, welds, and critical joints while documenting results in Excel and Jira. Assist in product validation, equipment analysis, and continuous improvement projects, and support the manufacturing team with process capability assessments. Perform metal cutting and polishing to create measurable lab samples and identify suspect defective material.
Required Qualifications
- Welding, fabrication, metal working, or weld inspection experience
- Laboratory equipment experience
- 3+ years of high-volume manufacturing or quality experience
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Problem solving experience
- Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, email – ability to manage files and records effectively
- Statistical process control / control charts
- Destructive or non-destructive inspection or testing experience
- Kaizen / continuous improvement process experience
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to stand for 8-12 hours per day
- Required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds
- Ability to perform all duties in a working environment that may contain dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather
