Job Summary
Support Rod Mill and Wire and Cable Mill testing requirements by performing tests accurately and timely. Collect samples required for testing by walking throughout the facility and stand for the majority of duties during a 12-hour night shift from 6:45pm to 7am. Use calipers, micrometers, and small scales to make basic judgment calls based on specifications and standards while following ISO Quality System documentation. Maintain a clean and organized working area, adhere to all safety rules and PPE requirements, and work effectively with little to no supervision. Present a summer project at the end of the program.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year wire and cable manufacturing or testing experience
- Experience with using calipers, micrometers, small scales
- Ability to perform basic tasks and tests during short periods
- Ability to make basic judgement calls based on specifications and standards
- A minimum of a H.S. Diploma
- Good reading and writing skills
- Ability to solve basic mathematics / problems
- Basic level skills in MS Word and MS Excel
- Ability to work in a group setting, participating in problem-solving teams
- Ability to work safely, always, and maintain working area clean and organized during 12 hr. shift
- Ability to work in a group setting, participating in problem-solving teams
- PPE required – steel toed safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year wire and cable manufacturing or testing experience (preferred)
