Job Summary
Identify and mark the location of underground EZEE Fiber lines using specialized equipment like pipe and cable locators. Clearly flag utility positions with paint, flags, or stakes to ensure safe excavation practices. Collaborate with construction crews, contractors, and engineers to coordinate locate activities and prevent service disruptions. Track, identify, and report locate tickets using Konterra and 3GIS mapping software. Document all work with accurate, descriptive photos and demonstrate excellent communication skills when addressing client concerns. Respond to after-hours emergency tickets on call as scheduled. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of utility locating techniques, equipment, and safety protocols to enhance job performance.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to operate utility locating equipment and interpret data accurately
- Strong physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Must be highly self-motivated and able to work independently
- Proficient in basic computer applications for data entry and reporting
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with team members and clients
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols
- Must be available for after-hours emergency tickets
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or wind
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 20 pounds as needed
- Must be able to tolerate exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and uneven or slippery surfaces
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) during all applicable tasks
- Must be available for standard daily travel to assigned territories (up to 30% of the time within a 10-mile radius)
Desired Qualifications
- Technical certifications in fiber optics
- A minimum of six (6) months to two (2) years of experience or training in utility locating, construction, surveying, or a related field
- Familiarity with utility maps, blueprints, and survey drawings
- Familiarity with Konterra and 3GIS mapping software
