Technician Lead - Equipment Maintenance

Job Summary

Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex failures in PVD, sputtering, e-beam, and evaporative deposition systems. Oversee preventive maintenance program execution, documentation, and compliance while prioritizing daily maintenance tasks and assigning work to technicians. Partner with engineering on upgrades, retrofits, and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement and equipment reliability. Manage spare parts inventory, coordinate external vendor repairs, and train team members on safety and technical best practices. Serve as the primary SME for advanced vacuum and thin-film deposition technologies within a high-technology manufacturing environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for equipment and process reliability
  • Advanced technical expertise and leadership within the maintenance team
  • Strong hands-on experience working with advanced deposition systems
  • Experience with Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD)
  • Experience with Sputtering systems
  • Experience with E-beam deposition equipment
  • Experience with Evaporative deposition systems
  • Experience with Ultra-high vacuum (UHV) equipment and vacuum pumps
  • Ability to lead troubleshooting efforts for complex and critical equipment issues
  • Ability to perform and oversee root-cause analysis for systemic or high-impact failures
  • Ability to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering to drive process improvements and equipment reliability strategies
  • Ability to lead daily maintenance execution
  • Ability to support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to ensure high standards of safety, quality, and operational performance
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-technology manufacturing environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and assign work to technicians to meet production needs
  • Ability to coordinate and oversee the preventive maintenance (PM) program
  • Ability to ensure execution, documentation, and compliance of the PM program
  • Ability to train and mentor technicians
  • Ability to promote technical development, safety, and reliability best practices
  • Ability to manage spare parts and inventory
  • Ability to order critical components and maintain appropriate stock levels
  • Ability to coordinate with external vendors for equipment repair, technical support, and parts sourcing
  • Ability to arrange and track off-site repair of equipment or components
  • Ability to ensure accurate and thorough documentation of all maintenance activities
  • Ability to maintain strict adherence to quality, safety, and operational protocols in a cleanroom work environment
  • Ability to work with high autonomy
  • Ability to set priorities for the maintenance team and manage workflow across multiple equipment platforms
  • Ability to make decisions on repairs, adjustments, and process improvements within company guidelines
  • Ability to act as the primary liaison between maintenance, engineering, and vendors
  • Ability to provide leadership and technical direction to all maintenance staff
  • Ability to guide team response to complex equipment challenges
