Job Summary
Laboratory Technician in Lafayette, LA focused on determining specimen acceptability for testing, performing routine and complex procedures per SOPs, monitoring and troubleshooting instrumentation, making technical testing decisions, preparing and evaluating reagents/controls, reporting accurate test results to support patient care, conducting preventative maintenance and QC, maintaining supplies, and upholding safety and PPE standards. Requires an Associate’s degree (with LS BME license) and experience in clinical laboratory testing; ASCP/AMT certification is preferred and a Bachelor’s degree is listed as a preferred qualification. The role emphasizes independent work within a team, attention to detail, and the ability to use laboratory information systems. Required Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- Louisiana State (LSBME) license
- ASCP or AMT certification (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology (preferred)
- 1 year or more of previous clinical laboratory testing experience
