Job Summary
Technician Instrument (Energy) responsible for trouble-shooting, repairing, re-commissioning and maintaining field instrumentation for gas turbines, steam turbines, desalination plants and auxiliaries to minimize downtime. Focuses on attending to breakdowns and planned maintenance with minimal supervision, selecting tools and equipment, ordering spare parts via the CMMS, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures. The role includes on-the-job training of new craftsmen, calibration and maintenance of instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level, flow), and experience with pneumatic/hydraulic valve actuation, CO2 fire protection, infrared gas detection, and related electrical/electronic/hydraulic/pneumatic systems. Requires reading engineering drawings/manuals, working under time pressure, and willingness to work shifts and respond to breakdowns in a hot, dirty environment with access to high platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Higher secondary or diploma
- Experience with maintenance and calibration of field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level, flow)
- Familiarity with electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic devices
- Knowledge of safety procedures and plant safety
- Ability to read engineering drawings and manuals
- Exposure to pressure or desalination/power plant environments
- Experience with CO2 fire protection and infrared gas detection systems
- Ability to work shifts and respond to breakdowns
- Experience with RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) and corrective actions
- Training capabilities to coach new craftsmen
