Job Summary
Support teaching and learning in the Automotive department by providing technical assistance to students, staff, and course leaders. Maintain a clean, safe workshop environment and prepare vehicles, tools, and equipment for high-standard practical sessions. Manage health and safety documentation, including risk assessments and maintenance records, while overseeing inventory, stock ordering, and the issue/return of course materials. Service and repair automotive equipment and vehicles as required, ensuring all tools are secured after each session. Participate in course team meetings and support marketing activities for the curriculum.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum VCQ / NVQ Level 3 Qualification and/or equivalent in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- GCSE English at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
- GCSE Mathematics at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
- IOSH Managing Safely (If you are not IOSH qualified, you will be expected to undertake training as soon as possible)
- Appropriate Health & Safety training (or willingness to undertake appropriate training)
- First Aid qualification (If you are not First Aid qualified, you will be expected to undertake training as soon as possible)
- Recent and relevant experience of the technical field/s concerned
- A good understanding of the technical support role in Further & Higher Education
- Industry experience working in an automotive workshop environment
- Be competent in the use of the following equipment: Automotive workshop equipment eg. four wheel aligner, diagnostic scan tools
- Good communicator with diplomacy and tact
- Good interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to work harmoniously with students and colleagues
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Ability to work flexibly

- Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1 Desirable
