Job Summary
Technician III needed to diagnose, repair, and overhaul diesel engines and associated systems (including clutch, PTO, electrical, hydraulic, air braking, and heating/AC) with 2-3 years of experience. Responsibilities include following job orders, diagnosing malfunctions, maintaining records of maintenance and parts, performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance, assisting less-experienced technicians, and ensuring safety devices and systems are in good working order. Requires valid driver license, ability to read service instructions, diesel-mechanic proficiency, experience with wiring diagrams, and strong mechanical aptitude. Education: high school diploma/GED plus technical training (Associates-level) in Diesel Technology; 3-5 years of related repair experience; ability to operate and test drive service vehicles; proficiency with diagnostic and repair manuals; ability to document time, repair orders, and parts usage; strong safety and teamwork orientation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Certified Associate in Applied Sciences or equivalent technical training in Diesel Technology
- 3-5 years repairing and maintaining diesel engines and equipment
- Reading/comprehending service instructions
- Experience with wiring diagrams and schematics
- Strong mechanical aptitude and diesel engine knowledge
- Ability to drive service vehicles and operate in/out of service area
- Electrical skills in AC and DC
- Computer skills for maintenance programs and diagnostics
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
