Job Summary

Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs on steering, electrical, cooling, braking systems, drive trains, and transmissions in accordance with Federal, State, and local guidelines. Assist with rebuilding engines, transmissions, and differentials, and conduct test drives during preventive maintenance inspections to identify driver-reported issues and confirm repairs. Arrange for major repair approvals, report additional maintenance needs, and perform road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned. Maintain a safe, clean work area compliant with all safety regulations and advise the Lead Technician of unsafe conditions. Record time, parts, and repairs on appropriate forms. Requires two to four years of medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic experience, diagnostic and electrical skills, and a valid CDL obtainable within 90 days.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two to four years medium/heavy truck Fleet mechanic repair experience
  • Diagnostic, Electrical, and AC skills
  • Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment
  • Previous fleet experience with familiarity with diesel and gasoline systems
  • Ability to use good judgment and decision-making skills
  • Valid CDL License (Must be able to obtain within the first 90 days of employment)
  • ASE Certification in brakes, suspension, engine, electrical, A/C or a Master School Bus and/or a Master Truck Technician
