Job Summary
Prepare daily and monthly production and utility reports, entering and maintaining data in SAP BW and EMSx. Monitor chemical usage, order materials, and track inventory while coordinating trials, logistics, and vendor relationships. Collect samples up to 50 lbs, perform routine testing, and analyze process data to support optimization and standard development. Manage documentation, update records, and assist with small continuous improvement projects. Work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays in a tissue mill environment requiring PPE and physical activity.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 4+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality control, laboratory testing, papermaking, chemical processing, or a related industrial environment
- Ability to safely collect samples (up to 50 lbs.) and perform routine laboratory and process testing
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, process variability, and quality control principles
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), test methods, sampling plans, and safety requirements
- Proficient in basic math, data entry, and using Excel or similar laboratory/process software
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and communicate process or quality concerns
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and call-ins as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical certificate, or coursework in industrial process technology, pulp and paper technology, chemistry, laboratory science, instrumentation, or a related field
- Experience in pulp, paper, tissue, nonwoven, converting, chemical, or other continuous-process manufacturing operations
- Knowledge of tissue manufacturing systems, stock preparation, wet-end processes, papermaking chemicals, and TAPPI test methods
- Experience with industrial control systems, laboratory information systems, PI Vision, DeltaV, SAP, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), or similar software
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience developing technical documentation, SOPs, and reports
