Job Summary
Review the work schedule, check equipment and supplies, and prepare for duties by complying with PPE requirements. Troubleshoot engines, transmissions, and fuel systems using manuals and diagrams, then disassemble, reassemble, and repair components with hand and power tools. Replace pumps, batteries, and seals while testing float valves and glow plugs. Perform preventative maintenance such as changing oil, filters, and coolants, and use meters to test and recalibrate equipment. Complete warranty paperwork and write repair activities on customer work orders.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or GED
- Four years direct work experience
- Proficiency in at least one mechanical system (i.e. hydraulics, transmissions, electrical, etc.)
- Ability to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend and climb onto and underneath various equipment to perform diagnosis and repairs
- Ability to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports
- Ability to routinely and physically lift/position various parts to perform repairs/service and manually handle parts up to 95 pounds
- Ability to use mechanical hoist for heavier parts
- Ability to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders
- Cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills to apply knowledge, written information and verbal instructions in repairing/servicing unusual and/or unknown technical equipment operational problems
- Exposure to P.C. base equipment and parts information
