Job Summary
Review the work schedule, check equipment and supplies, and prepare for duties by complying with PPE requirements. Troubleshoot engines, fuel systems, and transmissions using manuals and diagrams, then use hand and power tools to disassemble, reassemble, repair, and test components. Utilize lift trucks, overhead cranes, and hoists to move parts, and employ meters and computers to test, recalibrate, and enter data into record systems. Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, oil changes, and fluid system repairs on Cummins ISB and Ford engines, air brakes, and hydraulic systems. Work flexible hours including an on-call rotation while collaborating with management groups to ensure customer service.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a high school education or GED
- Four years of mechanical experience
- hands-on experience working on school and activity buses
- Must possess a fundamental understanding of equipment systems (i.e. engines, hydraulics, electrical, sub-electrical, transmissions, etc.)
- Ability to work flexible hours which would include being part of an on-call rotation with other technicians
