Job Summary
Technician I position within Texas A&M Biology Department. Under general supervision, supports Biology A&P laboratory courses through daily laboratory preparation and technical operations. Responsibilities include lab setup and coordination, assisting personnel with preparation activities, and ensuring quality assurance and quality control standards for laboratory equipment, specimens, reagents, solutions, and media. Opportunities to troubleshoot instructional labs, plan and supervise laboratory experiments and procedures, construct and operate laboratory apparatus, maintain laboratory safety, and train Graduate Assistants assigned to laboratory courses. The role emphasizes independent troubleshooting, preparation and coordination of experiments, and collaboration with team members to support student instruction and practical exams.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of related experience
- Ability to lift and move moderate weight objects
- Previous experience in research laboratory environment
- Completion of advanced A&P laboratory coursework
- Specimen dissection skills
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
