Job Summary
Technician I at Texas A&M Biology Department supports Biology A&P laboratory courses through daily lab prep, equipment and specimen QC, and coordination of laboratory activities. Responsibilities include assisting with lab setup and coordination, maintaining safety standards, performing QA/QC on equipment, specimens, reagents, and media, troubleshooting laboratory issues, planning and supervising lab experiments and procedures, constructing and operating laboratory apparatus for student instruction and practical exams, maintaining and transporting supplies and equipment, coordinating lab schedules, and training Graduate Assistants.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of related experience
- Ability to lift and move moderate weight objects
- Previous experience in research laboratory environment
- Completion of advanced A&P laboratory coursework
- Specimen dissection skills
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
