Job Summary
Handle test samples throughout the sample lifecycle from receipt to disposal, including storage, distribution, transfer, and disposal. Facilitate cold chain transfers and ensure samples are appropriately labelled while maintaining tracking, labelling, and chain of custody records in accordance with written procedures. Maintain inventory and support distribution of QC samples and materials to functional groups as scheduled or requested. Record performance metrics for the sample management group and follow lab procedures to maintain a safe and organized lab. Perform other tasks as assigned within a Biosafety Level 2 environment while adhering to EHSS procedures. This role works from 6AM to 6PM on a 12-hour rotating shift including weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher
- High school diploma/GED with 2+ years of relevant work experience
- Knowledge of basic electronic systems (email, MS Office, etc.)
- Ability to perform lifting tasks up to 20 lbs (9 kg) at floor and waist height
- Ability to lift up to 10 lbs (4.5 kg) overhead
- Ability to push or maneuver carts to transport materials between locations
- Ability to perform frequent pipetting and related laboratory tasks within a biological safety cabinet, including extended periods of seated work
- Ability to independently don, doff, and wear required personal protective equipment such as but not limited to lab coat/frock, gloves, safety glasses/face shield for prolonged periods while performing laboratory work
- Ability to safely handle and use chemical disinfectants, flammable materials, and hazardous chemicals
- Ability to use step stools while reaching and handling materials
- Ability to work in a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) environment
- Ability to understand and follow procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers and management regarding task completion, roadblocks, and needs
- Reliable and detail oriented with organizational skills
- 100% of shifts onsite at assigned facility
- Ability to work every other weekend, holidays falling on scheduled workdays, and during adverse weather conditions
- Flexibility to work irregular hours and short notice overtime
