Job Summary
Ensure all workplace safety, environmental, and National Safety Code policies are followed at active project sites. Read diagrams, schematics, and manufacturers' manuals to determine repair procedures, then safely operate hoists, lifting devices, and tools to position and fix machinery components. Inspect vehicles and equipment for defects, lubricate systems, and diagnose electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic computers to clear fault codes. Lubricate, service, repair, assemble, and maintain heavy construction equipment while coordinating repairs with operators and supervisors to minimize downtime. Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and work orders, keeping the service vehicle, tools, and work areas organized. Provide guidance to less experienced technicians and recommend improvements to maintenance policies.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience
- Valid driver's licence
- Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol program, including testing requirements
- Fewer than 6 demerit points on driver's abstract
- Excellent mechanical knowledge and demonstrated diagnostic ability
- Physically fit and able to perform heavy lifting and hands-on repair work in field conditions
- Journeyperson Certificate (Red Seal) as a Heavy Equipment Technician
- Ability to travel to project sites and work varied shifts, extended hours, weekends, or on-call schedules when operationally required
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather and site conditions
Desired Qualifications
- CVIP certification or willingness to obtain
- Dual trade certification
