Job Summary
Technician role at Auchmuty High School requiring technical/maintenance support across departments. Responsibilities include preparing equipment, apparatus and teaching materials (electrical, chemical, living, teaching kits) for classes, installing, commissioning and upgrading hardware, peripherals, software, and all networked IT devices in line with IT Services. Works under the direction of the Senior Technician to ensure a smooth day-to-day operation. Requires SCQF level 7 (HNC) or equivalent in Science/IT/Electrical and English/Mathematics qualifications; PVG scheme membership is required before appointment. Demonstrates teamwork, confidentiality, effective communication, and strong interpersonal skills to support pupils, staff and families; ability to work with minimal supervision in a changing school environment. Also emphasizes compliance with safeguarding policies and the school’s standards for professional conduct.
Required Qualifications
- Educated to SCQF level 7 which includes Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Science, Information Technology (IT), Electrical or equivalent and 4 Standard Grades (at level 3 or above) or equivalent in Science subjects, English and Mathematics
- PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland prior to appointment
- Experience of working with minimum supervision in an environment of change and challenge, or within a school
- Ability to work as part of a team and provide professional documents, information, data and reports
- Good levels of interpersonal skills and abilities to work with pupils, staff and families
- Willingness to obtain PVG membership and adhere to safeguarding policies
