Job Summary
Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on steel, stainless, and aluminum while cutting, bending, and fabricating components per specifications. Operate grinders, torches, and plasma cutters to assemble, integrate, and test mechanical and electrical subsystems. Conduct electrical troubleshooting, basic wiring, soldering, and preventative maintenance on deployed SDA sensor systems and prototypes. Read engineering drawings, manage tools and inventory safely, and collaborate with engineers to meet build schedules. Occasionally support off-site integration and testing at remote locations or field sites.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on technical experience (mechanical, electrical, or fabrication)
- Strong mechanical assembly and troubleshooting skills
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems (e.g., wiring, connectors, basic diagnostics)
- Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong team orientation with good verbal and written communication
- Must be comfortable working in both lab and field environments
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be eligible for a security clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent trade certification
- Experience working on aerospace, defense, or optical sensor systems
- Basic experience with machining tools (mill, lathe, drill press)
- Experience supporting field testing or system deployments
