Job Summary
Conduct inspections, diagnose, and repair assigned diesel equipment while correcting deficiencies and performing adjustments. Perform safety checks on trucks and maintain shop equipment by troubleshooting breakdowns and executing preventive maintenance. Keep records with guidance, update job knowledge through technical publications, and occasionally handle emergency service calls. Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards and communicate clearly with the Lead Mechanic and dispatch team. Work more than 40 hours weekly under supervision of level A and B Technicians.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in class 8 tractor truck maintenance
- Equivalent schooling to class 8 tractor truck maintenance
- Background of hydraulics
- Some knowledge of electronic diagnostics
- Knowledge of DOT compliance, laws, rules, regulations and safety
- Knowledge of transportation management system
- Computer literate
- Attention to detail
- High level of accuracy
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per week
- Ability to sit/stand for most of job duties
- Ability to frequently walk and sit
