Job Summary
Perform complex repairs and diagnostics including electrical systems, minor engine work, brakes, transmissions, and cooling maintenance. Diagnose vehicle problems based on customer complaints, examine assigned vehicles for safety needs, and road test vehicles as required. Communicate with customers to educate them on preventive maintenance and document all work performed and recommended. Partner with the Center Manager if additional work is needed or repairs cannot be completed within promised time. Maintain shop cleanliness, ensure customer vehicles are kept clean, and comply with federal and state regulations. Work independently on most tasks while maintaining accountability for store-owned tools and manuals.
Required Qualifications
- Three (3) plus years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine tickets, notes and other correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers
- Valid Driver's License
- State Emission Certification- if applicable in your state
- State Vehicle Inspector Certification- if applicable in your state
- Ability to work in cramped places, such as underneath a jacked-up automobile or a lower bay
- Upper body strength and stamina to effectively use hand tools like hammers and wrenches and to make sure that fasteners are properly secured
- Fine motor skills to be able to work with small fasteners, such as nuts, bolts, and washers
- Vision: Ability to read diagrams, manuals and emails
- Ability to work in fluctuating and sometimes extreme weather temperatures
- You will be required to sign a contract with our uniform policy and procedure plan
Desired Qualifications
- Current ASE Certifications are a huge plus in this role
