Job Summary
Perform mechanical tasks including brakes, rotors, fluid exchanges, oil changes, transmission, differential, and cooling system maintenance. Diagnose vehicle problems based on customer complaints, examine assigned vehicles for safety or service needs, and execute repairs on electrical systems and minor engine work. Communicate with customers to educate them on preventive maintenance and document all work performed and recommended. Road test vehicles as needed, ensure customer cars remain clean, and maintain shop areas and tools. Partner with the Center Manager regarding additional work or repair delays. Adhere to federal, state, and local regulations including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA standards. Work independently with a toolbox on site, operating tools safely in cramped places and fluctuating temperatures.
Required Qualifications
- Three (3) plus years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine tickets, notes and other correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers
- Valid Driver's License
- State Emission Certification- if applicable in your state
- State Vehicle Inspector Certification- if applicable in your state
- Ability to work in cramped places, such as underneath a jacked-up automobile or a lower bay
- Upper body strength and stamina to effectively use hand tools like hammers and wrenches and to make sure that fasteners are properly secured
- Fine motor skills to be able to work with small fasteners, such as nuts, bolts, and washers
- Vision: Ability to read diagrams, manuals and emails
- Ability to work in fluctuating and sometimes extreme weather temperatures
Desired Qualifications
- Current ASE Certifications are a huge plus in this role
