Job Summary
Tech-Advisor role in Yarmouth, ME combines counter-service writing and shop technician duties to deliver VIP’s customer-centric automotive experience. Responsibilities include consulting with customers at the service desk, educating them on vehicle conditions based on MPI inspections, taking work orders, and performing service tasks in accordance with VIP standards. The position requires safety training, LMS and vendor training completion, and certification progression (T.I.A BATS, TPMS, ASE). The role emphasizes effective communication, teamwork, driving customer engagement, and meeting production targets for billed hours; occasional off-site trainings and meetings are expected. The candidate should demonstrate automotive servicing knowledge, strong organization, problem-solving, and the ability to work both at the counter and in the shop, as needed. Pay is hourly with a standard 40-hour workweek in a fully in-person store environment.
Required Qualifications
- One year of related experience in automotive service field
- Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended
- Current, valid driver’s license issued in state of residence
- Equipment Safety Certification
- ASE Certification C1 – Service Consultant required
- ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended
- ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended
- ASE Certification A4 – Suspension & Steering
- ASE Certification A5 – Brakes
- State Inspection License Required (where applicable)
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Comprehensive understanding of automotive servicing and the industry
