Job Summary
Tech-Advisor at VIP Auto Service (Williston, VT) combines counter-service and shop technician duties to deliver VIP programs and standards. The role involves consulting with customers at the service counter to educate them on vehicle conditions based on mileage and MPI inspection results, taking work orders in the shop, and performing required services per VIP procedures. The Tech-Advisor must obtain and maintain training and certifications (including ASE certifications such as C1, G1, A4, A5; TPMS; BATS) and demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, safety awareness, and ability to contribute to a high-performing, customer-focused service experience. The position supports management in achieving safety, quality, and timely service, participates in LMS and vendor trainings, and may perform duties as both Service Writer and Installation Technician as needed, with a standard 5-day work week and 40 hours.
Required Qualifications
- One year of related experience in automotive service field
- Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended
- Current, valid driver’s license issued in state of residence
- Equipment Safety Certification
- ASE Certification C1 – Service Consultant required
- ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended
- ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended
- ASE Certification A4 – Suspension & Steering
- ASE Certification A5 – Brakes
- State Inspection License Required (where applicable)
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to analyze, prioritize, identify, and implement solutions; strong organization and time management; comprehensive understanding of automotive servicing and the industry
