Job Summary
Tech-Advisor lives VIP’s mission to EARN AUTOMOTIVE CUSTOMERS FOR LIFE by learning the VIP culture to help the team ensure that all customers get a different & better experience. The role alternates between service writer duties at the counter and hands-on technician work in the shop, following VIP processes to educate customers about vehicle conditions based on MPI inspections, and delivering a higher level of customer engagement and productivity. The Tech-Advisor must complete all required LMS training, vendor training, and perform duties in accordance with VIP standards, including passing safety requirements, maintaining facility and equipment, and communicating effectively with the team to ensure a better customer experience. The position requires safety compliance, ability to take and pass trainings, and readiness to perform duties of both Service Writer and Installation Technician, with potential for travel to training sessions. The standard work week is 5 days and 40 hours per week; various ASE and state certifications are expected or recommended.
Required Qualifications
- One year of related automotive service experience
- Two-year college or technical school program recommended
- ASE Certification C1 – Service Consultant
- ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended
- ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended
- ASE Certification A4 – Suspension & Steering
- ASE Certification A5 – Brakes
- State Inspection License Required (where applicable)
- Current, valid driver’s license issued in state of residence
- Equipment Safety Certification
- T.I.A basic automotive tire service (BATS) certified
- T.I.A advanced TPMS certified
