Job Summary
Monitor and test cathodic protection systems across the province using visual inspection, measuring instruments, and close-interval surveys. Develop plans for installing standard systems, inspect deep anode beds, and troubleshoot remote monitoring units for failures. Analyze electrical interference impacts on pipeline safety, prepare technical reports, and coordinate with external contractors and crews. Respond to calls regarding faults, locate pipelines, and initiate repair procedures while maintaining data in computerized management systems. Requires Certified Cathodic Protection Technician (CP2) status, seven years of experience, and a valid BC driver's license. Full-time bi-weekly pay of $3,478.00 with field exposure to hazardous conditions and all-weather driving.
Required Qualifications
- Recognized as a Certified Cathodic Protection Technician (CP2) by the National Association of Corrosion Engineering (N.A.C.E.)
- successful completion of Coating Inspection Program Level 2
- Seven (7) years directly related experience
- Working knowledge of the design, maintenance and operation of cathodic protection systems including corrosion theories and their application to buried pipelines, and DC/AC electrical interference
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards
- Working knowledge of computer systems operations, environment and peripherals and various applications software in use in the department (SAP & suite of MS Office products)
- Ability to type 40 WPM
- Ability to organize and prioritize field and office work
- Ability to analyse information and make sound judgments
- Mechanical aptitude - ability to operate and perform basic calibration on intricate instrumentation
- Valid BC Drivers License including a safe driving record
