Job Summary
Monitor and test cathodic protection systems at local and remote sites, developing plans, inspecting installations, and coordinating with contractors. Analyze monitoring data against Canadian Standards Association criteria to identify faults, utilizing close-interval surveys and current mapping to troubleshoot rectifier failures or underground shorts. Investigate alternating and direct current electrical interference impacts on pipeline safety, preparing reports and responding to calls regarding fault location or high voltage issues. Input data into management systems, review repair procedures, and liaise with municipalities or other pipeline companies. Requires a Certified Cathodic Protection Tester (CP1) and four years of experience.
Required Qualifications
- Recognized as a Certified Cathodic Protection Tester (CP1) by the National Association of Corrosion Engineering (N.A.C.E.)
- successful completion of Coating Inspection Program Level 1
- Four (4) years directly related experience
- Working knowledge of the maintenance and operation of cathodic protection systems including corrosion theories and their application to buried pipelines, and DC/AC electrical interference
- Ability to operate Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and Outlook)
- Working knowledge of Direct Current and Alternating Current electrical interference
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and within a team environment
- Ability to analyse information and make sound judgments
- Ability to operate and perform basic calibration on intricate instrumentation
- Mechanical aptitude
- Valid BC Drivers License including a safe driving record
