Job Summary

Draft, edit, and maintain hardware technical documentation including field installation guides, preventive maintenance manuals, and troubleshooting procedures. Conduct hands-on teardowns and observations of mobile solar units, mast assemblies, and power subsystems on-site at manufacturing facilities. Review engineering drawings, CAD models, and BOMs to verify documentation aligns with hardware baselines. Partner with engineering and safety teams to draft regulatory compliance and electrical safety standards. Develop visual documentation by capturing photos, annotating schematics, and creating exploded view diagrams. Plan and execute end-to-end media creation including video shoots and instructional footage editing. Establish content performance metrics and feedback channels with field operations to reduce support ticket volume. Translate complex electro-mechanical concepts into standardized procedures for installation and field service teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience as a Technical Writer supporting hardware products in a fast-growing technology environment
  • Hands-on experience with structured authoring tools (CCMS such as Paligo, MadCap Flare, or Arbortext)
  • Familiarity with video capture equipment, lighting/audio setup in industrial settings, and non-linear video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Camtasia, Final Cut Pro)
  • Comfortable interpreting engineering documentation, CAD files, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and engineering outlines
  • Ability to execute assigned documentation projects under general supervision, asking clarifying questions when encountering ambiguous specifications
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills; confident advocating for the end-user perspective alongside developers and engineers
  • A drive to deeply understand how products work under the hood and a passion for advocating for customer clarity over internal jargon
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • All candidates must pass a drug screening and background check upon employment
