Job Summary
Contract Technical Writer to develop product documentation and SOPs for clients with an on-site requirement in Dallas, TX. Responsibilities include writing and updating assembly, installation, operation, and maintenance documentation for physical products; creating software user guides and online help; ensuring documents follow defined standards; collaborating with SMEs and project managers to align with prescribed standards; and producing new documents as needed. Requires a U.S. citizenship, a bachelor’s degree in a related field, 5-7 years of technical writing experience, ability to gather technical data from SMEs, detail-oriented mindset, strong communication skills, and proficiency with tools such as Adobe InDesign, DITA/XML, MadCap Flare, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Notepad++. Preferred experience in relevant industries and additional tools (Oxygen XML Editor, Snagit, Photoshop, Markdown, FrameMaker, Visio, HTML, CSS). On-site in Dallas (Carrollton), TX.”,
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship
- Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, journalism, communications, or related field
- 5-7 years’ experience in technical writing
- Experience with gathering relevant technical data from subject matter experts
- Be detail-oriented and understand the principles of good technical writing
- Possesses excellent interpersonal and general business communication skills
- Experience working independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Demonstrated success working in an environment driven by budget, scope, and deadlines across multiple clients/projects
- Proficient in using Adobe InDesign, DITA/XML, or MadCap Flare (or another help authoring tool)
- Microsoft Word

- NotePad++ or related editor
- Preferred Skills & Qualifications: Experience in manufacturing, industrial, government, publishing, healthcare, technology, consumer products, software, IT documentation, and business & financial services
