Job Summary

Technical Writer II to research, draft, edit, format, and maintain a broad range of technical documentation for NAWC system-development, engineering, cybersecurity, testing, and operational-support efforts. Responsibilities include producing manuals, SOPs, system administration guides, installation/configuration guides, engineering reports, test plans, user guides, training materials, white papers, and briefings; collaborating with engineers, software developers, cybersecurity professionals, logisticians, and program personnel to gather and document technical information; translating complex concepts into clear, user-focused documentation; developing data packages, configuration-management docs, engineering-change docs, and technical directives; reviewing for grammar, consistency, and compliance with military standards and style guides; maintaining document repositories and revision histories; coordinating reviews and approvals; ensuring docs stay current with configurations and releases; supporting the creation of graphics and visual content for publications and presentations.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in technical writing, technical editing, documentation development, documentation management, or a related field
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Experience developing, editing, and maintaining technical documentation for complex systems, technologies, software applications, engineering efforts, or operational processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and document collaboration or repository platforms such as Microsoft SharePoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication, proofreading, editing, research, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, technical writing, engineering, information technology, or a related discipline is preferred
  • Relevant technical-writing or documentation experience may be considered in place of a degree, subject to contractual labor-category requirements
