Job Summary
Develop, deliver, and evaluate technical training for current and upcoming projects at the Auburn Maintenance Centre, including orienting new staff on overhauls, upgrades, testing, and fleet maintenance. Conduct training needs analysis, create or source external courses, assess competence, and administer assessments while complying with HR regulations. Assist in making effective decisions during ambiguous situations and support the delivery of rolling stock design, system engineering, and through-life maintenance services. Requires relevant trade qualifications, teaching certification, and at least five years of rail industry experience.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant trade qualifications in mechanical and/or electrical streams
- Experience working in a multi-disciplined technical environment
- Teaching qualification to TAE 40116 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or the willingness to achieve
- Knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
- Knowledge of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) Quality Framework
- Knowledge of engineering processes, including failure-reporting and investigations
- Minimum of 5 years in a relevant trade
- rail industry experience
- Demonstrated experience driving and shunting
- Demonstrated experience creating, developing and delivering training
- Makes effective and timely decisions in difficult or ambiguous situations
- Understands and complies with basic HR regulations and laws
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with rolling stock
- Knowledge of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) Quality Framework would be an advantage
