Job Summary
Technically assess and determine national Scottish Type Approval Scheme (STAS) applications while assisting applicants in making competent submissions. Develop content for national guidance and information papers, and engage with verifiers through the SBSH technical enquiry process. Conduct research, consult, and advise on matters via the national Dispute Resolution Process regarding technical, procedural, or regulatory interpretations. Collaborate with industry stakeholders and professionals to support SBSH services and activities. Work 36 hours per week from a designated home worker base in Fife, with the ability to travel across Scotland.
Required Qualifications
- Appreciation of tasks undertaken within a Building Standards & Public Safety environment
- Substantial Building Standards and Public Safety verification service experience (approval and compliance/inspection)
- Education to degree level or equivalent
- Practical experience of implementing technical procedures
- Experience working in a Building Standards environment and exercising a range of building standards and safety duties, including policy and process development
- Knowledge and understanding of Scottish Building Standards and Public Safety legislation theory, regulations, and service delivery standards
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans
- Knowledge and awareness of Local Government procedures
- Ability to work well on own initiative
- Ability to deal effectively with colleagues at all levels
- Positive attitude to customer care
- Ability to travel to various locations across Scotland
Desired Qualifications
- Membership of an appropriate professional body e.g., RICS or CABE
