Job Summary
Technical Specialist, Quality Assurance in Toronto (Hybrid). Responsible for assuring quality of safety-critical CBTC solutions within the Product/Project teams, leading compliance assessments for contractual QA requirements, and developing bid/project quality plans. Leads internal and external audits, manages audit findings, and drives continuous improvement and root-cause analyses across engineering disciplines (systems, software, hardware, testing, safety engineering, procurement, services). Performs quality reporting, supports First Article Inspections, coaches project teams to improve quality performance, and ensures customer concerns are addressed. Requires strong QA fundamentals, knowledge of ISO 9001 and industry standards (CENELEC/AREMA/IEEE; DO-178C/ISO 13485 as applicable), and experience in regulated or certified environments within transportation or related safety-critical domains. Preferred: experience with CBTC, transportation domain, AI-assisted tools, Six Sigma, and relevant certifications; French language is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- B.S Computer Science/Electrical/Mechanical/Computer Engineering or equivalent
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in Engineering System/Software development or Quality Assurance Specialist or Manager in a technology or manufacturing setting
- Solid understanding of general QA practices and procedures, Quality Management System
- Ability to conduct investigations and Root Cause Analysis across multiple disciplines (System, Software, Hardware)
- Knowledge of Industry Standards: CENELEC/AREMA/IEEE, ISO 9001, Project/Product Lifecycle and Deployment (System, Software, Hardware)
- Preferred: Hands-on Engineering System/Software development or Quality Assurance in complex System environments with certification constraints (Transportation, Aerospace, Medical Devices, Nuclear, Cybersecurity)
- Knowledge of Transportation domain / CBTC system is an asset
- Generative AI Prompting, Python
- Experience with CMMI Process Improvement Training or background (Six Sigma Green Belt, DMAIC)
- Certifications: ASQ (CQE, CQA...), ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
- French language proficiency is an asset
