Job Summary

Technical Specialist in the laboratory section overseeing workflow and performing quality assurance duties. May serve as team leader, scheduler, and primary trainer. Responsibilities include specimen testing, quality control, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, validation of specimen identification, project management, collaboration with medical staff, proficiency studies, instrument calibration and maintenance, teaching MT/MLT internship programs, inventory management, and performing in-charge duties on weekends and holidays. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science, with possible substitution of a Master’s for one year of experience, and relevant ASCP certifications favorable; 3 years of laboratory experience required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical, or biological science required
  • Master’s degree (or higher) in biological, chemistry, or laboratory science may substitute for one year of the required experience
  • Certification preferred (BB-ASCP, C-ASP, CLSP-NCA, G-ASCP, HT-ASCP, HTL-ASCP, M-ASCP, MB-ASCP, MLS-ASCP, MP-ASCP, MT-AMT, MT-ASCP, MT-NCA, or MT-STATE)
  • One of the above certifications may substitute for one year of the required experience
  • 3 years’ experience in a laboratory setting applicable to their area of responsibility required
