Job Summary
Lead DFM/DFA and value-engineering activities with Engineering teams to optimize product cost, manufacturability, and supplier performance. Review technical drawings, CAD data, and BOMs to identify opportunities for cost reduction, assembly simplification, and standardization across electronics, wire harnesses, sheet metal, and thermal systems. Own sourcing strategies for assigned hardware commodities, identify and qualify global suppliers, and manage RFQs and selection processes. Support target costing, NPI, and root-cause analysis with Quality and Engineering to ensure suppliers meet volume, quality, and delivery expectations. Requires 5+ years in technical sourcing, fluent English, and 25% travel time.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a comparable technical field
- 5+ years of experience in technical sourcing, strategic procurement, commodity management, supplier development, or cost engineering
- Strong experience applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and/or Design for Assembly (DFA) principles in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, BOMs, manufacturing documentation, and engineering specifications
- Experience sourcing at least several of the following commodity groups: Electromechanical components, PCBAs and electronics, Wire harnesses and cable assemblies, Sheet metal parts, Machined components, Fabricated assemblies and/or Thermal management components
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Fluent English
- Travelling time: at least 25%
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in power electronics, energy storage, e-mobility, industrial equipment, automation, or automotive industries
- Experience with low-volume/high-mix manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of cost modeling and value engineering methodologies
- German language skills
