Job Summary
Lead strategic direction for engineering, technical services, and infrastructure across the Alton Towers Resort, including theme park, hotels, waterpark, and heritage assets. Advise the Vice President and Senior Leadership Team on long-term asset strategy, balancing safety, resilience, and commercial performance. Shape significant operating and capital investment priorities while managing a large, multidisciplinary technical organization. Represent the Resort across Merlin's engineering community to influence technical standards and asset management policies. Drive innovation, decarbonisation, and energy resilience initiatives while protecting historic landscapes and ensuring operational excellence for millions of guest experiences.
Required Qualifications
- significant experience leading large engineering operations
- experience leading enterprise asset management
- experience leading infrastructure investment
- experience leading statutory governance
- commercial judgement to make decisions that balance risk, investment and business performance
- comfortable advising Executive and senior leadership teams
- leading significant operating and capital budgets
- providing clear direction when the stakes are high
- A degree or equivalent in Engineering, Facilities Management or a related technical discipline
- strong knowledge of health & safety legislation
- knowledge of engineering compliance regimes including LOLER, PUWER and PSSR
Desired Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status
- experience managing heritage estates
- a track record of leading sustainability initiatives
