Job Summary
Manage the Mark T. Coppenger Library's technical services by checking in physical journals, coordinating digital subscriptions, and selecting books, eBooks, and journals based on collection development policy. Process new acquisitions, maintain the local catalog, and perform inventory or deselection of the library collection. Handle supplies and physical services by submitting work orders, ordering operating materials, managing room reservations, and processing mail. Execute financial tasks including receiving invoices, coding transactions into spreadsheets, and submitting credit card reports. Coordinate with staff on correspondence, circulation desk support, and team meetings. Work Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
Required Qualifications
- Christian with high integrity, actively pursuing a relationship with God
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, preferred
- Previous library experience, preferred
- Knowledge of the methods, policies, and procedures of a library as they pertain to the position
- Able to learn and utilize new skills and information to improve job performance and efficiency
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook
- Able to use library software necessary for online catalog searches, interlibrary loans, and circulation, training will be provided
- Must possess own reliable transportation for travel between Midwestern campus buildings and offsite library storage facilities
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Including knowledge of proper English usage, punctuation, spelling, and grammar
- Able to compose business correspondence as requested
- Able to show courtesy and wisdom in dealing with sensitive issues and in contacts with all library patrons (students, staff, faculty, trustees, and campus visitors)
- Positive attitude with a desire and willingness to learn
- Able to multi-task, analyze workload, and prioritize as necessary for the benefit of the department
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be able to pass background screening, including driving record
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Able lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
