Job Summary
Provide expert-level support for customers using Cell Sorting, Spectral Flow Cytometry, and related Flow Cytometry technologies while collaborating with researchers worldwide to optimize instrument performance. Utilize remote diagnostic technologies to diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, optics, fluidics, and electronics issues, performing root cause analysis to distinguish between instrument, software, workflow, and user-related problems. Operate, support, and troubleshoot cell sorting and spectral flow cytometry instrumentation, managing escalations across geographic boundaries and communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. This onsite role in the US Technical Support team enables customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer through groundbreaking scientific research and innovation.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in science/engineering, or related field
- 3+ years hands-on experience with cell sorting instrumentation
- 3+ years of experience using, servicing, supporting, or troubleshooting Thermo Fisher Scientific Life Sciences instruments or comparable technologies
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, optics, fluidics, electronics, and instrument performance issues remotely
- Working knowledge of cell sorting, spectral flow cytometry, and flow cytometry principles including instrument setup, quality control, spectral unmixing, compensation, fluorochrome detection, sort optimization, and data acquisition
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and effectively distinguish between instrument, software, workflow, and user-related issues
- Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work cross-functionally and across geographic boundaries while managing escalations in a professional manner
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, English major preferred
- Experience working in a Flow Core Facility, Shared Resource Laboratory, or similar multi-user laboratory environment
- Hands-on experience operating, supporting, maintaining, or troubleshooting cell sorting and spectral flow cytometry instrumentation
- Familiarity with laboratory IT environments, Windows administration, networking concepts, remote connectivity tools, firewalls, VPNs, and system integration
