Technical Sales Specialist

Job Summary

Serve as the primary technical resource for Topcon precision agriculture products, software, displays, guidance, and steering technologies across Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and Nebraska. Evaluate customer operations and business objectives to develop comprehensive technical solutions, exercise independent judgment in recommending products and implementation strategies, and identify emerging market opportunities. Provide advanced technical consultation throughout the sales process, deliver product demonstrations, and support complex quoting activities while collaborating with Regional Sales Managers and Product Sales Specialists. Develop and maintain trusted relationships with dealers, OEM partners, and farmers by planning technical training programs, assisting with onboarding, and offering product guidance. Travel approximately 50–60% of the time throughout the assigned territory to conduct customer visits, deliver training, and strengthen relationships, occasionally traveling outside the primary territory for strategic initiatives and industry events. Maintain accurate customer interactions and project updates within the CRM system while partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure timely order fulfillment. Stay current on precision agriculture trends and competitive offerings to contribute ideas that improve customer experience and sales effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

  • Three to five years of experience in technical sales, precision agriculture, ag technology, electronics, dealership support, or a related technical customer-facing role
  • Associate degree or higher in Agriculture, Precision Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Electronics, Business, or a related field
  • Ability to manipulate small components, connectors, and wires with precision and accuracy during the assembly and testing of electrical systems
  • Occasionally, the role may involve lifting and carrying equipment, tools, or materials weighing up to a certain limit
  • Some tasks may require standing and walking around the facility for limited periods of time
  • Good eyesight and visual acuity are important for reading technical diagrams, inspecting electrical components, and identifying small details during the repair and testing process
  • Much of the work may be conducted at a desk or workstation, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods
  • Some tasks, electronic assembly or testing, may involve repetitive motions of the hands, arms, or fingers
  • Awareness of and adherence to safety protocols and procedures, including ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protocols, is essential

Desired Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree or higher in Agriculture, Precision Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Electronics, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Working knowledge of precision agriculture equipment, GPS guidance systems, displays, steering technologies, ISOBUS systems, electronics, and agricultural equipment preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365, CRM software, and business applications
  • Experience with precision agriculture software platforms is preferred
