Job Summary
Develop Design Safety Philosophies, specifications for fire protection systems, and data sheets independently or with minimum supervision. Create UFDs, P&IDs, and perform hydraulic check analyses for fire water and foam demand calculations. Prepare hazardous area classifications, source release schedules, and layout drawings for fire zones, detection systems, and escape routes. Participate in process hazard reviews including HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, and Bowtie studies, then support action close-outs. Design active and passive fire protection packages, prepare requisitions, and coordinate third-party studies such as FERA, dispersion analysis, and QRA. Provide Human Factors Engineering inputs and interface with engineering disciplines to resolve technical safety matters. Requires 10+ years of HSE engineering experience in the hydrocarbon industry.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related field
- 10+ years HSE Engineering experience (Process Safety/Risk Analysis/Loss Prevention Engineering)
- Average experience ranging from min 7 years in the Hydrocarbon industry
- LNG facilities experience in design projects
- Strong knowledge of International Codes and Standards, Regulatory codes and standards (DNV/ ABSNFPA)
- Ability to influence designs to achieve optimal HSE outcomes
- Familiarity with plot plan reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL classification/ verification and other safety reviews (e.g.SIMOPS, ALARP)
- Good working knowledge of PIPENET, Flaresim & other consequence modelling software such as DNV PHAST etc
- Good team engineer
- Proactive inter-discipline communication skills
