Job Summary
Conduct visual, dimensional, and electrical inspections of manufacturing goods during and at the completion of the process to approve or reject assemblies. Interpret complex prints, drawings, wire cards, and lists to ensure compliance with stringent industry standards and certifications. Document inspection results, maintain accurate records, and communicate findings to stakeholders. Assist in drafting work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, and supporting root cause analysis for non-conformances. Provide guidance and mentorship to Level 1-2 inspectors while facilitating internal and external audits.
Required Qualifications
- Typically, 4+ years of relevant experience
- Progress towards multiple NASA and IPC industry standard certifications
- Completion of basic GD&T training
- Understanding of technical schematics and documents
- Understanding of electrical wiring concepts
- Functional use and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite tools, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
- Ability to understand and interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerance
- Experience drafting work instructions and SOPs
- U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical field
- Advanced certifications in quality assurance or inspection (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Technician, Certified Quality Engineer, or Certified Quality Inspector)
- Certifications in IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC J-STD-001
- Working towards Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma certifications
- Proficiency with standard inspection tools and equipment, including hand inspection tools and equipment
- Developing statistical process control (SPC) techniques and data analysis
- Basic familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and equipment
- Experience with quality management software and databases, such as SAP QM or similar
- Basic knowledge of electrical testing equipment and techniques, including oscilloscopes and multimeters
- Experience in a regulated industry, such as aerospace or defense, with an understanding of industry-specific standards and regulations including AS9100
- Proven ability to provide technical guidance to Level I & II inspectors
