Job Summary

Technical Product Manager for Alarm.com's video streaming infrastructure. Own the performance, reliability, and evolution of the streaming platform, defining streaming quality targets and the roadmap to improve them. Collaborate directly with backend, firmware, frontend, and QA engineers to ship improvements, including reading WebRTC session logs, analyzing codec tradeoffs, benchmarking stream load times, and prioritizing work between adaptive bitrate streaming and connection reliability. Manage streaming quality metrics, build dashboards, and drive root-cause analyses when metrics degrade. Own the technology roadmap for connection protocols (WebRTC, RTSP), proxy infrastructure, adaptive bitrate streaming, and codec modernization (AAC-LC, Opus). Partner on cloud infrastructure and cost optimization (Kubernetes, microservices) and Azure cost tracking. Lead cross-company integrations with vendors and subsidiaries, coordinate firmware update rollouts, and manage cross-functional programs spanning multiple engineering teams. Strong emphasis on data-driven decision making, the ability to read code and architecture diagrams, and clear communication translating business priorities into technical requirements. Bonus points for experience in IoT, security/surveillance, or connected device ecosystems; background as software engineer, SRE, or platform engineer moving to product; familiarity with media server frameworks and cloud cost management.
