Job Summary
Technical Operations Manager role at The Weather Channel requires leading technical directing teams, coordinating with Broadcast IT and Weather Graphics Engineering, and overseeing live and taped productions. The candidate will direct TD duties, manage rundowns and show scripting, train staff on newsroom and production systems (Dalet, iNews, ENPS), and collaborate with Producers, Talent, Marketing, and Design to enhance production value. Extensive experience with Grass Valley Kayenne/Ignite and newsroom systems, plus strong leadership, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities, are essential. The role supports a 24x7 weather/news environment with flexibility for varying shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years of Broadcast or Cable TV Production Experience as Director and Technical Director
- Extensive knowledge of Grass Valley production systems (Kayenne, Ignite)
- In-depth experience with Newsroom systems (Dalet, iNews)
- Ability to Direct/Technical Direct live and taped productions, pre-production and post-production sessions
- Experience developing and leading teams; strong communication and troubleshooting skills
- Flexibility to work days, nights, overnights and weekends as needed, including 24x7 news/weather coverage
