Technical Manager, Waste Management

Job Summary
Technical Manager leads a group of systems design and equipment engineers in Nuclear Waste Management within the CANDU MONARK Project. Manages design execution through all design phases, ensuring quality, cost, and schedule adherence; removes barriers; provides technical guidance; approves engineering deliverables; contributes to commercial proposals; forecasts resource needs; collaborates with marketing and other groups to strengthen client relationships. The role requires broad nuclear engineering expertise, strong leadership, and compliance with QA procedures, CSA/REGDOC standards, and regulatory requirements, with travel to project sites as needed. Location is Mississauga, ON; regular on-site duties and potential site work are expected.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, nuclear engineering or engineering science from an accredited university
- Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, or eligible within six (6) months of hire
- Experience managing engineering work with significant interfacing requirements with other engineering teams including Licensing, Safety Analysis, Process, Mechanical, Civil / Structural, Electrical / I&C, and Process Control
- Experience working within a Quality Management System (CSA N286) and quality standards (CSA N299)
- Experience managing and/or performing work using nuclear Codes and Standards related to waste management, decommissioning, environmental assessments, including CNSC REGDOC-2.5.2, REGDOC-2.7.1, REGDOC-2.9.1, REGDOC-2.9.2, REGDOC-2.11.1, and REGDOC-2.11.2, CSA N292, CSA N294, and Canadian Radiation Protection Regulations SOR/2000-203
- Working knowledge of/experience with CSA N285.0, ASME Section III, CSA B51 Standard, ASME B31.1 code, and other applicable standards or regulatory guides
- Experience in procurement, operation, and maintenance of waste management equipment / components
- 10 years of experience in heavy water and tritium management, waste management, radiation and environmental protection, environmental impact assessment, refurbishment, safe storage, decommissioning and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) and/or BAT assessment of CANDU design
- 5 years nuclear and/or CANDU technology experience
- 3 or more years of experience leading engineering teams
- Experience working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada is an asset
- Site experience in construction, or commissioning of systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset
- Proven track record of performance in a multidiscipline, dynamic project delivery environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Willingness to travel to and potentially work at project sites to meet business needs
- Security Clearance with Public Services and Procurement Canada is a condition of employment
