Job Summary
Technical Manager, Food Safety leads a portfolio of audits and certification activities, serving as lead auditor on high-risk engagements, and provides coaching and performance feedback to a team of technical staff and contract auditors. Responsibilities include overseeing audit plans and technical reports, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, developing procedures to improve quality and efficiency, and maintaining current knowledge of standards (SQF, BRCGS, HACCP) and regulatory requirements. The role involves client management, internal training development, and supervisory duties, with remote-work flexibility and travel as needed. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in a related field and experience with database systems and email/CRM tools.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Food science, food technology, or related discipline
- 6+ years professional experience in food safety, quality assurance, food manufacturing, auditing, certification, or related field
- 2+ years of people leadership experience
- Strong customer service and teamwork skills (Advanced proficiency)
- Well-developed organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks (Advanced proficiency)
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, and database systems)
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally (Intermediate proficiency)
- Auditing SQF Systems or Auditing the SQF Code Requirements
- BRCGS Lead Auditor Training (Food Safety, Packaging Materials, and/or Storage & Distribution)
- HACCP Course (HACCP Alliance) - 2 days
