Job Summary
Technical Lead role based in the UK, remote. You will provide technical and line-management leadership to development teams, work directly with clients to translate business and technical requirements into impactful applications, and guide delivery across projects. Responsibilities include identifying and resolving blockers, upholding best practices in software development, DevOps, and agile methodologies, shaping architectural decisions for scalability, security, and maintainability, and keeping clients and Nearform leadership informed on project status. The role requires significant software engineering experience (Senior Engineer leading projects or Technical Lead), proficiency in JavaScript or Python, client-facing experience, ability to mentor teams, strong understanding of agile, TDD, and testing, Git, cloud technologies (AWS/Azure/GCP), and awareness of operational concerns (monitoring, performance, security, accessibility, GDPR). Strong empathy and people skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience in software engineering as either a Senior Engineer leading projects and mentoring or as a Technical Lead
- Experience using JavaScript technologies or Python
- Experience working directly with clients or customers to understand technical requirements
- Experience leading software engineering teams through technical delivery and mentoring
- Deep understanding of agile methodologies and design patterns
- Deep understanding of test-driven development and testing best practices
- Proficiency with version control tools (e.g., Git)
- Understanding of DevOps practices and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Awareness of operational concerns (monitoring, performance testing, security, accessibility, GDPR)
- Empathy and strong people skills
