Job Summary
Technical Lead – Java Architect for the eLIMS-Forensics programme. Lead architecture and development of enterprise Java applications across Forensic Case Management, LIMS and Expert Reporting platforms, with hands-on coding, design, and delivery leadership. Collaborate with distributed teams across UK, Europe, nearshore and offshore locations; drive modernisation of legacy forensic systems; ensure scalable, high-performance solutions aligned with forensic operational processes and compliance. Key tech includes Java 11/17, Java EE/Jakarta EE, Eclipse RCP/SWT/JFace, WildFly, PostgreSQL, JPA/Hibernate, and DevOps tooling (Git, Azure DevOps, Docker, Maven). Responsibilities span software engineering, architecture and design, backend/data engineering, DevOps/automation, quality and reliability, and cross-functional collaboration within Agile/Scrum delivery teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors in Engineering or Masters in Computer Science or equivalent
- Customer-service oriented with a problem-solving attitude;
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy is essential;
- Entrepreneurial thinking and flexibility to change;
- Very good English communication skills (concise writing and orally convincing);
- Structured and clear writing skills;
- Proven ability to solve complex business problems using analytical reasoning;
- Demonstrated positive attitude, self-motivated, team player.

Desired Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- Extensive experience (10yr ++) in enterprise Java development and DevOps practices
- Proven experience in architecture and hands-on development
- Experience working in regulated or complex operational environments (Forensics, LIMS, etc.)
- Strong collaboration skills across distributed delivery teams
