Technical Laboratory Assistant: Hrly, FT

Job Summary
Coordinate and perform clerical and technical tasks in the clinical laboratory, including specimen accessioning, processing, and inventory maintenance. Load specimens on automated lines, perform storage and retrieval, and conduct visual inspections for volume and gross clots. Answer the pneumatic tube system, log specimens into the lab information system, and distribute samples to testing areas while following proper identification protocols. Prepare and label specimen slides, manage lab supply inventory, and perform analyzer calibrations and quality control for test systems. Execute waived tests, investigate order problems, and triage STAT results according to established guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic clerical skills, such as typing, filing, medical terminology and computer literacy
- Able to lift objects up to 25 lbs
- Punctual attendance at assigned work location
Desired Qualifications
- Previous hospital laboratory experience
- Previous lab experience and/or medical background
- CPR/BLS certification
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills
- Outstanding attention to detail
